California has hired Cuonzo Martin to replace Mike Montgomery as head coach.

Martin has spent the past three seasons at Tennessee.

Martin was previously head coach at Missouri State.

Chris Mack will remain at Xavier after having discussions about the head coaching vacancy at Cal.

Mack has led Xavier to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2012.

Cal has strong interest in Xavier's Chris Mack to replace Mike Montgomery as head coach.

Mack had led Xavier to the Sweet 16 in 2010 and 2012 since replacing Sean Miller in 2009.

Montgomery has publicly pushed for assistant Travis DeCuire to get the job.

California was 21-14 this season and will lose seniors Justin Cobb and Richard Solomon.
